Bishop Kioko Hospital, Machakos-Kenya

  • TaskUpgrading of a 20kw system to a 40KW system with Batteries

Bishop Kioko Catholic Hospital is situated in Machakos town, and is owned and run by the Catholic Diocese of Machakos. They offer 24 Hour Quality Health Care Service to all; through well trained staff and appropriate technology. The Hospital is founded on Christian ethics and values, and is licensed by the Government of Kenya to operate and offer Medical Healthcare Services as a Level 4 Hospital.

The Hospital has a bed capacity of 125 patients and the high power needs  that are forthcoming in a hospital, the management sought a solution to keep sustainable. Initially the hopsital had implemented a 20KW solar power system but with more and more rising power needs, they sought to cut down on costs even more through sustainable energy.

Hence they contracted us to update their existing solar system that not only acts as a power cost reduction system but is there on standby in case the electricity goes offline, which is critical at a hospital of such mass. We implemented an extra 20KW system with batteries interconnected to the grid.

The solar system implemented here for maximum impact included:

  • Topray Solar 250Wp
  • 2pcs Sunny Tripower 10000-TLs
